East Bengal: Torch Bearers getting ready for next season?

Since coming back after winning the Super Cup, East Bengal have only won two out of their nine Indian Super League games. They may have lost all chances of qualifying for the ISL 2023-24 play-offs. Reportedly, they are getting ready to give a tougher competition next season.

As per reports from AajTak Bangla, East Bengal coach Carles Cuadrat has now said that they have already secured pre-contracts with two players. It also says that the Torch Bearers are ready to invest more money to strengthen their squad and to improve other areas.

East Bengal

East Bengal won the Super Cup, so they have already solidified a spot in the AFC Champions League 2. If they want to do well in that competition where they will compete against top teams from nations, like Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, and more.

Hence, East Bengal are planning to bring in more players to strengthen their squad. They let go of two midfielders on loans during the winter transfer window. They also bid farewell to another key player - Jose Pardo after he sustained a long-term injury.

East Bengal were quick to bring in two players as replacements, but none of them have been able to prove themselves. It's clear that the Torch Bearers need to strengthen their squad to give a tougher run to Mumbai City, FC Goa, or their arch-rival neighbours Mohun Bagan.

They are right to start worrying about the next season from now on. East Bengal still have three games to play in the ISL league round. They will need all nine points from these games and will have to wait for the teams above to lose points.

Additionally, the Torch Bearers' remaining three games will be against Kerala Blasters, Bengaluru FC, and Punjab FC. Kerala's performance may have declined, but they are still one of the best teams in the league this season. Additionally, winning against Bengaluru or Punjab won't be either.
