East Bengal handed squad boost ahead of match against FC Goa

East Bengal have a thousand problems on their hand at this moment. However, their main focus is probably on their next match against FC Goa on March 6. They have now received squad boost before that big match that will surely help them.

Maher Hijazi got his fourth yellow card of the season during their match against Chennaiyin FC. He served his one-game suspension during their last match against Odisha FC. Now, East Bengal will be getting him back for this match against FC Goa.

After their training session on Monday, talking to the media during the pre-match press conference, coach Carles Cuadrat talked about Hijazi’s return to the team. He said, “This match is very important for us and the team will be stronger with Hijazi's return.”

The coach also talked about the return of Saul Crespo. He said, “Crespo has practiced with the team at his full capacity. After seven long matches, we will finally be able to take to the field with six foreigners. That's good for the team.”

Saul Crespo sustained a serious injury to his thigh during the Kolkata derby at the start of February. Early assessments of the injury dictated that the Spanish midfielder could be out for the entire season. However, he has come back to Kolkata after recovering.

He came back to the city near the end of February. He began his rehab at the city to become fully fit to play a full match. It seems he is recovering well and as per the coach's update on the player, Crespo could even take to the field against FC Goa.

However, even with the inclusion of Hijazi and Crespo, it's hard to say how much it will help East Bengal win against FC Goa. After they solve the conundrum of the coming Kolkata derby date and time, a win in this match could also boost their morale.
