East Bengal players reportedly had trouble finding hotel rooms in Bhubaneswar after their Kolkata Derby win against Mohun Bagan in Group A of the Kalinga Super Cup 2024. East Bengal will now face Jamshedpur FC in the semifinal on Wednesday.
However, Ajtak Bangla reported that the East Bengal squad was not able to stay in one hotel together due to multiple marriage ceremonies scheduled at the hotel. Some of the players reportedly had to move out to another accommodation as no hotel rooms were available at the current team hotel due to the busy season.

The incident happened after players returned to their hotel following a recovery session with head coach Carles Cuadrat on Saturday evening. The news, however, wasn't verified by East Bengal club officials.
East Bengal won the Kolkata Derby on January 19 (Friday) defeating their arch-rivals Mohun Bagan 3-1 in a virtual quarterfinal. Cleiton Silva scored a brace while Nandhakumar also scored his second goal in three Derbies.
Coach Carles Cuadrat was seen attending the Jamshedpur FC vs Shillong Lajong FC match in Group B as JFC will face East Bengal in the semifinal. Jamshedpur FC have been riding on the rich form of their foreign striker Daniel Chima Chukwu, who scored three goals in three games.
East Bengal are looking to end their title of more than 10 years as they haven't won a senior competitive trophy since winning the Federation Cup in 2012. They came closest to winning a trophy last year at the Durand Cup 2023 but fell to arch-rivals Mohun Bagan 1-0 in the final with Cuadrat taking charge of the club.
The results, however, haven't translated the same way in the ongoing ISL 2023-24 campaign as they are currently eighth in the table with 11 points in 10 games. That's why a title triumph at the Kalinga Super Cup 2024 is essential for Cuadrat's certainty at the East Bengal.
