East Bengal player Souvik Chakrabarti signs new Deal at Club, set to stay till 2027
East Bengal have confirmed that experienced midfielder Souvik Chakrabarti has signed a contract extension, committing to the club until the end of the 2026-27 season.
Since making the switch from Hyderabad FC in 2022, Souvik has been an integral part of Emami East Bengal's leadership group. The industrious midfielder has accumulated 65 top-flight appearances for the Red & Gold Brigade, logging 4,601 minutes on the pitch, along with a goal and an assist.

"We are pleased to extend Souvik's contract for another two seasons. A prime example of versatility and perseverance, he is a son of the soil who embodies the core values of East Bengal. Souvik is one of the few midfielders who have played close to 150 ISL matches. He is a great professional and the youngsters can learn a lot from him," East Bengal's head of football Thangboi Singto said to the club.
In the 2024-25 campaign, Souvik continued to be a dependable presence in midfield. He featured in 28 matches across all competitions, amassing over 2,149 minutes. His lone goal in East Bengal colours came in emphatic fashion - during the 4-0 victory over Bashundhara Kings in the AFC Challenge League group stage clash in Thimphu.
In the Indian Super League 2024-25, he recorded 66 recoveries, 21 clearances, 19 interceptions, 44 successful duels, and 12 successful aerial duels, while maintaining a 78% passing accuracy over 1,560 minutes in 20 matches.
The 32-year-old is expected to be an integral part of the Red and Gold brigade in the upcoming season. Chakrabarti, who has been a mainstay for them in the midfield, will have important role as the Kolkata club look to qualify for the playoffs in the upcoming ISL season. And as he signs for two more seasons, the player sounded buoyant as he spoke to the club.
"It has been a matter of great pride to represent this iconic club over the past three seasons. I have won the Super Cup with East Bengal and experienced many wonderful memories. I will try to perform even better over the next two seasons and as a senior player, inspire the youngsters to bring more success to the club," Chakrabarti said after extending his stay.
