East Bengal striker Dimitrios Diamantakos sends stern warning to Kerala Blasters

East Bengal's new boy Dimitrios Diamantakos will return to his former abode on Sunday (September 22).

East Bengal are set to face Kerala Blasters in the ISL and it will be a special occasion for Diamantakos, who returns to Cochin again, this time in different colours.

Diamantakos had two magnificent seasons with the Blasters, where he scored 10 and 13 goals for them in respective seasons. The Greek also finished as the top goalscorer in the league last season.

But Diamantakos is ready to shrug off the jitters and ready to shine for his new club.

"I'm coming back for the first time here as an opponent. I was here for two years, it was a very good year. But now I'm in a new team, in a new club. As I said, the coach was very well prepared for that game and we will fight for the three points," Diamantakos said in the pre-match press conference on Saturday.

The 31-year-old was a prolific scorer during his time at Kerala Blasters and is adored among the Kerala fans. Although he switched Kerala for Kolkata, the former Olympiacos striker was still cheered by the KBFC faithful on Saturday.

"I appreciate how they did me here. But now I'm in a new team, in a new club. I want me and my team to win the game and that's why I will fight," the East Bengal striker said when asked about his connection with the Kerala Blasters fans.

Along with that, Diamantakos was very confident ahead of the massive tie. The player fired a warning to his former club, stating that he hopes East Bengal will come out as winners.

"It's very good to play here as a player also. Even if you are in this team, even if you are an opponent. Because this kind of game with this atmosphere is nice to play as a football player. I hope that we will have a very good game. Sorry for you, I hope that we will win the game," the Greek striker concluded.

Both East Bengal and Kerala Blasters suffered defeats in their first league match of the season and will be desperate to get back to winning ways.
