The Kolkata giants are currently placed 8th in the league table and a win would take them to the 6th place, which is inside the playoff places. As they take on the Blues in the penultimate league match, East Bengal coach Carles Cuadrat spoke to the media and gave his thoughts.

The East Bengal coach says they are optimistic about the season's end and future.

"There is not a lot of time between games, but I think that we are fighting for the playoffs, and which is the most important thing the work that the guys have been putting to be in a competitive situation. In other seasons, the team was not really fighting for anything. But this season, we have been fighting, and we are giving our best with both home and away results. I am optimistic about the next two matches, and I'm optimistic about the next month," Cuadrat said.

It will be a huge match for East Bengal and after their victory against Kerala Blasters in the last match, the Spaniard says the team will be putting their all in the next match and will be looking for all three points.

Talking about Bengaluru, the East Bengal coach says they have a plan to stop the visitors but expects it to be a difficult game.

"It is just the question to be focused and the good thing is that we play a difficult team like Bengaluru. We have a plan and we are going to get ready for that. Bengaluru have improved a lot and getting more points. So it is going to be a difficult game," he added.

Although the win in the last two matches doesn't guarantee their playoff status, but the East Bengal manager says the players are motivated and know the importance of the last two matches.

"The players are motivated. We had a team talk in the last match and the players gave their all in the last match, and they will be doing the same tomorrow because they know the importance of winning these last two matches. After all the work and all the things we have been fighting against, it is kind of huge if we get the sixth position," the Spaniard added.

The East Bengal coach also shrugged off the inconsistency tag on their team and said that he is happy with the way the team has performed this season. He also affirmed that winning the Super Cup was a big moment and that the plan they had before the start of the season is working.

The results for East Bengal have been encouraging in patches and it is to be seen how they cope up with the mental aspect in these last two crucial matches.
