East Bengal vs Mohun Bagan Injury Update: Jose Molina updates on Sahal Abdul Samad; EBFC See Key Players Return Ahead of Kolkata Derby in ISL 2024-25

East Bengal vs Mohun Bagan Injury Update: Ahead of the first Kolkata derby of ISL 2024-25, Mohun Bagan Super Giant and East Bengal have been handed positive injury reports regarding key players.

Mariners' coach Jose Molina cleared midfielder Sahal Abdul Samad for the derby match, which will take place on Saturday, October 19 at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan.

East Bengal vs Mohun Bagan Injury Update

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Molina revealed that he has the entire Mohun Bagan squad at his disposal ahead of the crucial match, with no players suffering from any knocks.

"Everybody is ready and available for tomorrow's match," Molina told reporters. "The player (Sahal) is ready to play. Sometimes, when a player returns from an injury and has not played any match, he is not at his best."

"Is Sahal ready for tomorrow's match? Yes, at the moment, like everybody else," the Spanish gaffer added.

Sahal Abdul Samad suffered what seemed to be a strain in his right hamstring in the ISL match against Bengaluru FC, and had to be taken off 10 minutes into his appearance. However, the midfielder was recently seen back in the first team practice, with fans expecting to see him in the starting lineup against East Bengal.

For the Red and Gold Brigade, Saturday's clash will be all-important as they will not only seek to win their first Kolkata derby in the ISL era but also their first league win in this season.

Therefore, fans will be buoyed by the news that star striker Dimitrios Diamantakos and full-back Nishu Kumar have fully recovered from their respective injuries and returned to full training.

Diamantakos missed the last two ISL clashes against FC Goa and Jamshedpur FC after suffering from an unspecified knock, but he will likely start for East Bengal in Saturday's match.

As for Nishu Kumar, the left back might get an opportunity to make his East Bengal debut at the Kolkata derby, finally completing his recovery from a serious injury sustained at the start of the season.

His return will give East Bengal a reliable option on the left side of defence, having forced to rely on young Lalchungnunga so far.
