East Bengal vs Mohun Bagan: What caused ruckus after Kolkata derby’s final whistle?
India's most famous derby lived up to its name as both Mohun Bagan and East Bengal locked horns in a toe-to-toe fight on Sunday night. The display of beautiful gameplay came from both sides with a little bit of drama on the side.
The Kolkata derby is incomplete without a little drama anyway. However, it continued till the end of the match when the final whistle was blown and both team's players and a few officials were seen arguing with the referee getting involved in the middle.

The cause of the incident can be traced back to the dying moments of the game. Four minutes into the injury time after the official 90 minutes, as PV Vishnu ran down the left flank charging on an attack, he was brought down.
Trying to clear the ball, Abhishek Suryavanshi made contact with PV Vishnu and the Torch Bearers forward fell down inside the box. The first look into the matter somehow seemed to the referee that Vishnu had simulated the matter and he was even given a yellow card for it.
However, a replay of the incident showed that there was contact from Abhishek Suryavanshi and that could have been a penalty. The match ended two minutes later and East Bengal captain Cleiton Silva was absolutely not happy with the incident. He ran towards the referee to complain after the final whistle.
He was joined by his teammates. Joni Kauko was nearby and got involved and that started a clash between Silva and Kauko. It only took a moment for a few club officials to get involved. However, the matter didn't escalate more and was also dissolved quickly.
Mohun Bagan dominated the first half of the match and East Bengal couldn't recover from that even with a stellar performance in the second half. The Mariners left with a 1-3 win and a penalty in the last moment might have helped the Torch Bearers.
