“All good things come to those who wait” and a long wait it was. The victory after 12 years was that much sweeter for all East Bengal fans who will be taking to the streets of Bhubaneswar, celebrating all night.
Devoted East Bengal fans have travelled miles and miles for years to cheer and witness this day. The older generations travelled with their last win in the Federation Cup back in 2012 in their hearts.

This time around, they defeated the Mariners in the Kalinga Super Cup group stage by a 1-3 margin. They went on to reach the final and win it in a dramatic manner. The win did not come easy for the Red and Gold Brigade.
They left it to extra time to win it all with a late goal from team captain Cleiton Silva scored the winner in the 110th minute. East Bengal won their last trophy back in 2012 which was the Federation Cup.
Back then, East Bengal were in an amazing form. They had already won Federation Cup trophies in the 2007, 2008-09, and 2009-10 seasons. They have won a total of 8 Federation Cup titles so far in the club's history.
Yesterday's Super Cup win was the first in their history. However, the last time they won the Durand Cup was in 2004. This was also their second consecutive Durand Cup title win and it brought their cup tally to 16.
East Bengal are currently sitting in 8th position in the Indian Super League table. Their first clash after coming back from the month-long international break, their first match will be the all-important Kolkata derby against Mohun Bagan.
