Bengaluru, February 14: Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson Moraes is already being lined up for a stunning new Manchester City deal despite joining the Cityzens just seven months ago on a world-record fee for a keeper.
The Brazilian goalkeeper has been a sensation since joining Pep Guardiola’s side back in June last year.
Many were skeptical about the 24-year-old’s £34million world record fee at the time.
But he has answered his critics, with the Sky Blues now on the brink of clinching their third Premier League title.
And the Etihad chiefs want to reward him with fresh terms, upping his lowly £70,000-a-week wages.
He is contracted until 2022, but Guardiola believes he can be City’s number one for nearly the next decade and wants to reward him for his good work.
Guardiola loves to have a sweeping keeper in his side and Ederson has shown that he is the perfect number one for the Spaniard's team.
He is confident on the ball, never hesitates to come off his line and boasts a tremendous distribution.
A Manchester City source said: “The club is already looking at giving Ederson a new deal at the club.
“He was an expensive purchase but has been worth every penny. He has delighted Pep how quickly he’s settled in.
“There is not a rush on him but the club will make sure he is looked after in the long-term.”
The Sky Blues have a host of contract improvements to hand out at the end of the season, including Gabriel Jesus.
Guardiola also plans to give Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling new terms in the near future.
Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva and Nicolas Otamendi have also recently signed extensions.
