Egypt Squad FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers: Mohamed Salah, Omar Marmoush Lead Pharaohs

Egypt squad announced for FIFA World Cup 2026: Hossam Hassan reveals full Pharaohs squad for crucial qualifiers

Austria returns to the FIFA World Cup 2026 for the first time since 1998 as Ralf Rangnick names a balanced squad filled with experience and young talent.

Egypt Squad FIFA World Cup

Austria is finally back at the FIFA World Cup after 28 years away from football's biggest stage. Their last appearance came in the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France, where their final match ended in a 2-1 defeat against Italy in the group stage on June 23, 1998. Now, after nearly three decades, Austria has officially announced their squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026, creating huge excitement across the country.

Head coach Ralf Rangnick confirmed the final 26-man squad on Monday for the tournament in North America, where Austria has been drawn into Group J alongside defending champions Argentina, Algeria, and Jordan. The squad includes experienced leaders, exciting young players, and the return of captain David Alaba, who missed Euro 2024 because of a long-term injury.

According to FIFA's official report: "David Alaba will captain Austria at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite his limited playing time at Real Madrid this season." Austria qualified for the tournament after a dramatic 1-1 draw against Bosnia in November 2025, sealing their first World Cup appearance since 1998.

Salah and Marmoush lead Egypt Squad FIFA World Cup

The biggest names in the squad are once again Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush. Salah remains Egypt's captain and most important attacking player, while Marmoush has continued to grow into one of the team's biggest threats going forward. Alongside them are Mahmoud Trezeguet, Ibrahim Adel, Mostafa Mohamed, and Osama Faisal, giving Egypt plenty of pace and creativity in attack. As reported by Ahram Online, Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah and Eintracht Frankfurt's standout attacker Omar Marmoush headline Egypt's squad for the upcoming qualifiers.

Egypt have also impressed statistically during qualification. Reports highlighted that the Pharaohs scored 20 goals while conceding only twice during their qualification campaign, showing an incredible balance in both attack and defence.

Hossam Hassan focuses on balance and experience

Hossam Hassan's latest selection shows that he wants balance across the pitch instead of depending only on star names. Veterans like Mohamed El-Shenawy, Rami Rabia, and Trezeguet bring vital international experience, while younger players such as Ibrahim Adel and Hossam Abdelmaguid continue to get opportunities to prove themselves on the big stage.

With Egypt sitting comfortably at the top of their qualifying group, the upcoming matches against Ethiopia and Burkina Faso could move the Pharaohs one step closer to securing their official place at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
