Ekitike Expresses Gratitude For Playing Alongside Liverpool Legend Mohamed Salah

Hugo Ekitike praises Mohamed Salah as a great professional and a legend at Liverpool. After scoring in a recent match, Ekitike reflects on the blessing of playing with Salah, who set a new Premier League record.

Hugo Ekitike expressed his admiration for playing alongside Mohamed Salah, describing it as a privilege. After a challenging week, Salah rejoined Liverpool's squad for their Premier League match against Brighton at Anfield. Previously, Salah was absent from the Champions League game against Inter, which Liverpool won 1-0 at San Siro. This followed his criticism of the club and manager Arne Slot after a 3-3 draw with Leeds United.

Salah's return saw him assist Ekitike's second goal in a 2-0 victory over Brighton, setting a new Premier League record for goal involvements with one club (277). Ekitike, who became the youngest player since Michael Owen in May 2001 to score two or more goals in consecutive Premier League matches, praised Salah's professionalism. "Mohamed is a great, great professional," he told BBC Sport. "I look to him as an example. You can see how much he is involved in goals and assists. He is a legend here. To share the pitch is a blessing."

Ekitike Thanks Salah for Support on Pitch

Ekitike opened the scoring against Brighton just 46 seconds into the match, marking Liverpool's earliest league goal since Naby Keita scored after 15 seconds against Huddersfield Town in April 2019. It was also the fastest goal of this Premier League season so far. The Frenchman has netted seven goals in his first ten Premier League starts, with only Daniel Sturridge scoring more (eight) in the same period for Liverpool.

Reflecting on his time at Liverpool, Ekitike shared his happiness with his current situation. "I really enjoy my life here," he said. "I have great team-mates, good staff, great fans. They give me so much love, so I try to give it back." He emphasised that scoring goals and winning games are his ways of reciprocating the support he receives.

The recent match against Leeds United was challenging for Ekitike and his team. However, securing victory was crucial for them to regain momentum. "Last game in the Premier League against Leeds was difficult," he noted. "It was important to win and maybe restart something; I am very happy."

Ekitike continues to thrive at Liverpool with strong performances and contributions on the field. His partnership with Salah remains a key highlight of his experience at the club.
