Eliezer Mayenda Commits To Sunderland With New Long-Term Contract Until 2030

Eliezer Mayenda has signed a long-term contract with Sunderland, extending his stay until 2030. The young forward had a standout season, contributing significantly to the team's success.

Eliezer Mayenda has secured a new long-term deal with Sunderland, extending his stay until 2030. The 20-year-old forward was instrumental in Sunderland's play-off final victory over Sheffield United last season. He scored the equalising goal in that match. In the 2024-25 Championship season, Mayenda netted 10 goals across 40 appearances, only trailing Wilson Isidor, who scored 13 for the team.

Mayenda's contributions were not limited to goals alone. He was involved in 15 goals, sharing the top spot with Isidor for goal involvements within the team. Additionally, Mayenda completed 54 dribbles, second only to Patrick Roberts' 72 in the league. Expressing his joy about the contract extension, Mayenda said on Sunderland's website, "I'm very happy to sign a new contract. I think everybody knows that for me, this is my team, my club, my city so it's a special moment."

Mayenda Signs New Contract with Sunderland

Mayenda praised Sunderland fans as some of the best in England and described playing at the Stadium of Light as an incredible experience. He encouraged supporters to continue their enthusiastic support, stating he feels amazing every time he steps onto the pitch. His connection with the fans and commitment to the club highlight his dedication to Sunderland's future success.

The announcement of Mayenda's contract renewal was shared by Sunderland AFC on Twitter:

This contract extension is part of significant strategic moves by Regis Le Bris' side as they gear up for their first Premier League season since 2016-17. The club has been active in strengthening its squad with several permanent signings including Habib Diarra, Simon Adingra, Chemsdine Talbi, Noah Sadiki, Granit Xhaka, Robin Roefs and Reinildo Mandava.

Additionally, Enzo Le Fee’s loan spell was made permanent following a successful stint last year. Marc Guiu has also joined on loan from Chelsea. These acquisitions are aimed at bolstering Sunderland’s squad depth and competitiveness ahead of their return to top-flight football.

Upcoming Fixtures and Premier League Return

Sunderland has scheduled two more friendlies against Augsburg and Rayo Vallecano before they kick off their Premier League campaign at home against West Ham United on August 16. These matches will serve as crucial preparation for their return to England’s top division.

Sunderland's recent activities reflect their ambition and readiness for Premier League challenges. With key players like Mayenda committing long-term and strategic signings being made, they aim to make a strong impact in their upcoming season.
