Elon Musk, known for owning the social media platform X, is reportedly interested in acquiring Liverpool, the Premier League leaders. This information comes from his father, Errol Musk. Despite being the world's wealthiest individual, Elon Musk has not made any official moves to purchase a football club yet. However, his interest in Liverpool has sparked curiosity.
Fenway Sports Group (FSG), which owns Liverpool along with the Boston Red Sox and Pittsburgh Penguins, has been open to external investments for some time. In late 2022, there were rumours that FSG wanted to sell Liverpool due to fan dissatisfaction over various issues. These included the club's attempt to join the European Super League.

John W. Henry, the principal owner of Liverpool, later stated that the club was not on the market. Despite this, Errol Musk mentioned that Elon Musk is considering a takeover bid for the team. He shared these insights during an interview with Times Radio.
Errol Musk expressed a personal connection to Liverpool, noting family ties to the city. "His grandmother was born in Liverpool," he said. "We have relatives there and were fortunate to know quite a few of the Beatles because they grew up with some of my family." This connection adds another layer to Elon Musk's interest in purchasing the club.
When asked if Elon had shown a desire to buy Liverpool, Errol replied affirmatively but clarified that it doesn't guarantee a purchase. "Oh yes," he said, "but that doesn't mean he's buying it. He would like to yes, obviously."
The potential involvement of Elon Musk in acquiring Liverpool remains speculative at this stage. While his interest is evident, no formal steps have been taken towards a purchase. The situation continues to be one of intrigue for sports fans and business analysts alike.
