Unai Emery Expresses Confidence In Aston Villa Signings Amid Rashford Loan Speculation

Unai Emery is optimistic about Aston Villa's potential signings before the transfer window closes. While he refrained from confirming a loan deal for Marcus Rashford, he emphasised the need for quality players to strengthen the squad following recent departures.

Aston Villa are actively pursuing new signings before the transfer window closes, according to Unai Emery. Despite this, Emery refrained from discussing the potential loan of Marcus Rashford from Manchester United. Reports suggest that Rashford, an England international, is nearing a move to Villa for the remainder of the season. Emery emphasized his wish to strengthen the squad following recent player departures.

Villa recently lost Diego Carlos, Emiliano Buendia, and Jhon Duran, who moved to Al-Nassr after scoring seven Premier League goals in 626 minutes. Emery expressed his intent to bring in new players by Sunday or Monday. Following a 2-0 defeat to Wolves, where Ollie Watkins sustained an injury, Emery stated, "We are working to try and get some players to join us on Sunday or Monday."

Emery Confident in Villa Signings Amid Rashford Talk

Emery highlighted the difficulty in finding suitable replacements: "It is not easy because we don't want to replace with players that will not help us like I want." He stressed the importance of being selective and intelligent in their choices. The aim is to replace Duran with another striker if they find someone who meets their standards.

Emery acknowledged the challenge of signing a striker: "To sign a striker is not easy." He praised Watkins for his versatility and consistency, noting his ability to recover quickly and play multiple matches weekly. Regarding Watkins' injury, Emery said: "I changed him because he was feeling a little bit of pain in his muscle."

Villa's performance against Wolves was subpar as they ended Wolves' four-game losing streak in the Premier League. A goal by Donyell Malen was controversially disallowed due to Morgan Rogers being offside. The VAR ruled that Rogers interfered with play. Emery commented on VAR decisions: "It's a VAR task, I believe in VAR, but sometimes, I think they make mistakes."

Emery remains optimistic about adding two or three more players to enhance Villa's competitiveness. He believes they can achieve their desired level with current players while seeking additional talent. The focus remains on strengthening the team intelligently without compromising quality.

As Villa navigates these challenges, Emery's strategic approach aims to bolster the squad effectively while addressing immediate needs due to injuries and player exits.
