Emery Praises Aston Villa's Character Following Thrilling Comeback Win Against West Ham

Unai Emery applauds Aston Villa for their resilience after a dramatic 3-2 victory over West Ham. The team's ability to respond to adversity highlights their strong character and determination in the Premier League.

Aston Villa's manager, Unai Emery, praised his team for their resilience after they overcame West Ham 3-2 on Sunday. The Villans twice fell behind at the London Stadium but managed to equalise through an own goal by Konstantinos Mavropanos and a double from Morgan Rogers. This victory follows similar comebacks against Brighton, Arsenal, and Basel earlier this month.

Villa's recent performances have been remarkable, with the team winning 10 of their last 11 Premier League matches. Their current six-game winning streak is the longest in their history in the competition. Despite these achievements, match-winner Rogers stated that the team is not focusing on title aspirations but rather maintaining consistency.

Emery Commends Villa's Resilience in Win

Emery expressed satisfaction with his players' ability to handle challenges and maintain composure under pressure. "We needed to keep calm and be consistent and demanding in our game plan. We did everything," Emery told Match of the Day. He emphasised the importance of staying focused as they continue their campaign.

Morgan Rogers played a crucial role in Villa's victory with two goals, including a stunning strike that left West Ham's goalkeeper Alphonse Areola helpless. On his performance, Emery commented: "I believe in their qualities and their confidence, so, of course, shoot." Rogers himself acknowledged his current form and expressed his desire to contribute more goals for the team.

Reflecting on the team's journey from being considered relegation candidates to now challenging at the top end of the table, Rogers said: "We're not looking at that at all. People were talking about relegation before, so we are not talking about that." He stressed the importance of improving their starts to avoid falling behind early in matches.

Looking Ahead

Currently sitting third in the Premier League standings, just three points behind leaders Arsenal, Villa aims to continue their impressive run. Emery remains focused on ensuring his players stay grounded and committed to their objectives as they face upcoming challenges.

The team's ability to bounce back from setbacks has been a key factor in their success this season. As they prepare for future fixtures, maintaining this resilience will be crucial for sustaining their momentum in the league.
