Santiago Gimenez marked his debut goal for AC Milan as they secured a 2-0 victory over Empoli at Stadio Carlo Castellani. Rafael Leao also found the net, helping Sergio Conceicao's team maintain their pursuit of a top-four spot in Serie A. The match saw both teams reduced to ten players after the break, adding drama to the contest.

In a bid to energise Milan's attack, Conceicao introduced Leao, Gimenez, and Christian Pulisic at half-time. This strategic move paid off when Leao scored with a powerful header from Pulisic's cross in the 68th minute. Eight minutes later, Pulisic assisted again, setting up Gimenez for a beautiful curling shot that extended Milan's lead.

The first half was uneventful, but the second half saw Fikayo Tomori receive a second yellow card in the 55th minute. Ten minutes later, Luca Marianucci was shown a straight red card after a VAR review for kicking out at Gimenez. Despite these setbacks, Milan managed to secure the win.

Gimenez made history by becoming the first Mexican player to score for AC Milan in Serie A. He joins Johan Vasquez and Hirving Lozano as the third Mexican to score in Italy's top division. This victory also marked Milan's fifth consecutive clean sheet against Empoli, equalling their longest streak against any opponent in Serie A.

Empoli's struggles continued as they extended their winless streak to nine matches, hovering just one point above relegation. However, they achieved a milestone by starting seven Italian players for the first time in Serie A history.
