Endrick To Return To Real Madrid After Lyon Loan, Confirms Agent Freitas

Endrick's agent Tiago Freitas confirms the Brazil forward will rejoin Real Madrid after the current Lyon loan spell, noting strong performances but emphasising the players' return to Madrid at season's end.

Endrick looks set to rejoin Real Madrid in the summer after a strong loan spell at Lyon, with agent Tiago Freitas insisting there is no chance of an extended stay in Ligue 1 despite the forward’s impressive numbers and growing speculation about a longer deal in France.

The 19-year-old joined Lyon on loan from Real Madrid for the second half of the 2025-26 season, having slipped down the pecking order under Xabi Alonso, yet the move has revived Endrick’s form and confidence, bringing goals, assists and a fresh debate about his future role in Spain.

Endrick Return to Real Madrid

Across all competitions for Lyon, Endrick has made six appearances, scoring five goals and supplying two assists, and that output includes a Ligue 1 hat-trick against Metz last month that made Endrick the youngest Lyon player to hit a league treble, overtaking Bernard Lacombe’s previous landmark of 19 years and 196 days.

Player Competition Date Age at hat-trick
Jeremy Menez Ligue 1 January 2005 17 years 260 days
Kylian Mbappe Ligue 1 February 2017 18 years 53 days
Ousmane Dembele Ligue 1 March 2016 18 years 296 days

That Metz performance also placed Endrick among a select modern group in Ligue 1, as in the 21st century only Jeremy Menez in January 2005, Kylian Mbappe in February 2017 and Ousmane Dembele in March 2016 have scored league hat-tricks at a younger age than the Brazilian forward.

Lyon are understood to admire Endrick’s impact and would welcome a longer agreement, yet Freitas moved quickly to shut down that scenario, stating: "Endrick will return to Real Madrid at the end of the season. He's on loan [at Lyon] and, at the end of the season, Endrick will be again a Real Madrid player," Freitas said.

Before the current campaign, Endrick experienced a full season with Real Madrid under Carlo Ancelotti in 2024-25 after a reported 60m transfer from Palmeiras, making 37 appearances in all competitions, though Endrick started only eight of those matches and still managed to score seven goals across domestic and European fixtures.

Endrick Real Madrid Lyon adaptation and minutes

The situation changed when Alonso took charge, with Endrick featuring just three times for Real Madrid before the coach was later dismissed, although Freitas defended the forward’s adaptation, saying: "Endrick had no problem adapting," Freitas said. "He scored in his first Champions League game, in his first LaLiga game, in his first cup game. When you arrive at a club where eight of the 10 best players in the world are already there, it's normal for an 18-year-old to get limited minutes on the pitch. However, he didn't do the pre-season, he didn't go to the club World Cup, and he was out for several months. At a club like Real Madrid, that penalises you a lot."

There remains uncertainty over how much Endrick will play when the loan ends and Real Madrid’s squad reshapes again, but Freitas stressed that long-term forecasts are impossible, adding: "I cannot predict the future. Endrick is only thinking about the next game, it's always about the next game."

For now, Lyon continue to benefit from Endrick’s sharp form in Ligue 1 and cup competitions, while Real Madrid monitor progress from a distance, aware that the teenager is expected back at the Bernabeu once the 2025-26 season finishes, with Endrick focused on maintaining performances rather than future selection battles.
