England Secures 2-0 Victory Over Albania In Tuchel's First Match As Manager

In his debut match, Thomas Tuchel led England to a 2-0 victory over Albania. Miles Lewis-Skelly scored on his debut, followed by a goal from Harry Kane, ensuring a strong start in the World Cup qualifiers.

Thomas Tuchel began his tenure as England's manager with a 2-0 win against Albania in their opening World Cup qualifier. Miles Lewis-Skelly marked his debut by scoring the first goal, while Harry Kane secured the victory with a late strike at Wembley Stadium. England controlled the early stages but needed 20 minutes to break through Albania's defence.

Jude Bellingham played a crucial role by delivering a precise through ball to Lewis-Skelly, who calmly finished past Thomas Strakosha. The Albanian goalkeeper was tested again in the 40th minute, blocking Bellingham's diving header. Kane's follow-up was deflected over the bar by Berat Djimsiti. Just before halftime, Dan Burn almost scored with a powerful header from a corner, but it hit the crossbar after Strakosha's touch.

Tuchel's England Wins 2-0 Against Albania

Kane led England's attack in the second half, narrowly missing a header shortly after the hour mark. However, he found success in the 77th minute by controlling Declan Rice's cross and finishing expertly into the bottom-right corner. This goal marked Kane’s 70th for England and highlighted his consistent performance under different managers.

Lewis-Skelly made history as both the fourth-youngest player to debut for England at 18 years and 176 days and the youngest to score on his senior debut. He surpassed Marcus Rashford’s record of scoring at 18 years and 209 days against Australia in May 2016. Overall, he ranks as England’s third-youngest scorer, following Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen.

Tuchel maintained an impressive streak where each of England’s last eleven permanent managers won their first match in charge. This victory places England at the top of Group K after their initial game. Kane also achieved a unique feat by scoring on his first appearance under three different managers: Roy Hodgson, Gareth Southgate, and now Tuchel.

The match not only showcased Tuchel’s successful start but also highlighted promising performances from new talents like Lewis-Skelly. With this win, England sets a positive tone for their World Cup qualifying journey under Tuchel’s leadership.
