England Dominates Portugal 6-0 As Beever-Jones Nets First-Half Hat-Trick In Nations League Match

Aggie Beever-Jones scored a first-half hat-trick to lead England to a commanding 6-0 victory over Portugal in the Nations League. The win highlights England's strong performance and resilience following recent challenges.

Aggie Beever-Jones was the standout performer for England as they triumphed 6-0 over Portugal in the Nations League. Making her debut at Wembley Stadium, Beever-Jones scored a hat-trick within the first half-hour. This victory was a positive end to a challenging week following Mary Earps' retirement. The match began with England scoring early when Andreia Norton lost possession, allowing Beever-Jones to score past Ines Pereira.

Just two minutes after their first goal, Lucy Bronze doubled England's lead by heading in from close range after Beth Mead's blocked shot landed perfectly for her. Bronze then assisted Beever-Jones for England's third goal with a precise cross that Beever-Jones headed into the net after hitting the crossbar. Before the half-hour mark, Mead added another goal by turning Catarina Amado and curling the ball into the bottom-right corner.

Beever-Jones Leads England to 6-0 Victory Over Portugal

Beever-Jones completed her hat-trick before halftime by receiving a long pass from Leah Williamson and scoring at Pereira's near post with help from the woodwork. Chloe Kelly sealed England's victory in the 62nd minute, heading in Mead's cross to cap off a perfect night for Sarina Wiegman's team.

This win extended England's unbeaten record against Portugal to 12 matches across all competitions, with seven wins and four draws. They have only faced Finland more often without losing. Beever-Jones became the first England player to score a first-half hat-trick since Beth Mead did so against Latvia in November 2021.

Mead also reached a milestone by scoring her 27th goal under Wiegman's management, more than any other player since Wiegman took charge in September 2021. The Lionesses have been formidable at home, losing just once in their last 51 competitive home games, with that defeat coming against France in May 2024 during a European Championship qualifier.

England remains second in their Nations League group despite Spain's dominant 5-1 victory over Belgium earlier that day. Esther Gonzalez and Athenea del Castillo each scored twice for Spain. The Lionesses' impressive performance at Wembley showcased their strength and determination as they continue their campaign.

The Lionesses' recent form highlights their resilience and skill on home soil. With only one loss in their last 51 competitive matches at home, they have proven to be formidable opponents. Their recent success is a testament to their hard work and dedication under Sarina Wiegman's leadership.

As England looks ahead, they aim to build on this momentum and continue their strong performances both domestically and internationally. The team's unity and talent will be crucial as they strive for further success in upcoming competitions.
