Lee Carsley is urging the England squad to seize the opportunity after nine players withdrew due to injuries. Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton was the latest to exit before the Nations League matches against Greece and the Republic of Ireland. Other notable absentees include Trent Alexander-Arnold, Cole Palmer, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Aaron Ramsdale, and Levi Colwill.
England captain Harry Kane expressed his disappointment over the numerous withdrawals affecting interim manager Carsley's final two games. Despite this, Carsley maintained a positive outlook during his pre-match press conference before facing Greece. He emphasised focusing on the available players and making the most of the situation.

Carsley highlighted that November has historically been a challenging period for player availability. However, he praised the positive environment created by Gareth Southgate and Steve Holland. "The focus all camp has been on the players that are here and it's important that we make the most of the situation," he stated.
The current scenario offers other players a chance to step up. Carsley noted that despite past challenges in November windows, the team culture remains strong. The emphasis is on those present and deserving of their spot in the squad.
Jack Grealish was among those who withdrew early from the squad. Despite not playing for Manchester City since October 20th, he was initially called up. Pep Guardiola questioned this decision as Grealish was recovering from an injury. Carsley defended his choice, explaining that medical teams communicate regularly during squad selection.
"The medical teams are constantly talking throughout squad selection," Carsley explained. Updates are frequent between club and country medical departments. Grealish was assessed upon joining and then sent back once it was clear he couldn't participate.
England trails Group B2 leaders Greece by three points with two fixtures remaining. They previously lost 2-1 at Wembley last month but have won all four prior away games against Greece with a 9-1 aggregate scoreline. Greece currently holds Europe's longest active winning streak at five games.
Carsley will be replaced by Thomas Tuchel after next week's home game against Ireland. He anticipates a challenging match against Greece but remains optimistic due to good training sessions and high spirits among players.
The upcoming window is crucial for England's campaign in both matches against Greece and Ireland. Carsley believes it's an excellent challenge for his team as they prepare for these important fixtures.
