England, March 9: Everton youngster Dominic Calvert-Lewin is being considered for a shock England call-up for England's games later this month as Gareth Southgate continues stepping up his World Cup combinations.

It is more or less confirmed that Southgate will bring Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane and Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy with him to Russia, however, still the manager is believed to be searching for a backup versatile option in the attack who can be deployed in the wings as well as in attack.

And seeing the Everton youngster prospering in both the roles for his club, it is believed that he will be given a chance to prove himself in upcoming Three Lions international friendlies.

Calvert-Lewin was provided with an opportunity to train alongside his senior compatriots ahead of their last international match against Germany and Brazil when Kane was out injured however the former Middleborough man that time preferred Dominic Solanke and Tammy Abraham instead of him.

The 20-year-old has not been a regular starting member of a struggling Everton side but still has started in 17 Premier League games and 30 matches all over the season. And whenever he was given a turn, the attacker repaid the faith and now has brought his tally to eight goals and four assists.

The Three Lions boss now reportedly wants to hand the youngster a chance for the international friendlies against the Netherlands and Italy later this month and should he be able to show his form in the white jersey, there is a serious chance of he getting into the squad of next years World Cup.

Lewin was part of the England Under-20s side which won the World Cup last summer and this will be his first senior call-up.

Southgate's men will take on Netherlands on March 23 during the international break and will again challenge Italy four days later.
