English football likely to make Beckham official ambassador

London, Mar 21 (ANI): The Football Association is set to offer ace midfielder David Beckham a role as the official ambassador for English football.

The 34 year-old superstar underwent surgery last week to repair the torn achilles tendon he sustained playing for AC Milan and faces six months on the sidelines.

Senior FA officials are already aware of the massive popularity Beckham enjoys around the globe, The Mirror reports.

A senior FA source said: "David can do a wonderful job for English football. The role of ambassador for the English game with the Olympics and 2018 World Cup bid on the go would be a perfect match." (ANI)
