Enzo Fernandez Aims To Follow Frank Lampard At Chelsea To Win More Silverware

Enzo Fernandez has stated his desire to emulate Chelsea legend Frank Lampard and help the Blues lift more silverware. Since joining from Benfica for GBP 106.8m, he has become pivotal, delivering titles and strong form under various managers, while hoping to replicate Lampard's influential midfield impact at Stamford Bridge.

Enzo Fernandez is targeting more trophies with Chelsea and hopes to mirror Frank Lampard’s goalscoring impact from midfield. The Argentina international now plays a more advanced role and wants his performances to drive further silverware at Stamford Bridge over the next seasons.

Chelsea’s number eight has already become central to recent success, helping Enzo Maresca’s side win the Club World Cup in the summer of 2024 and guiding the club to the Conference League title in the 2024-25 campaign, underlining Fernandez’s influence in major competitions.

Enzo Fernandez eyes Lampard path at Chelsea

Fernandez, who featured 11 times under Lampard during the coach’s second spell late in the 2022-23 season, now studies Lampard’s attacking runs closely. The midfielder aims to copy Lampard’s timing in the box while stressing respect for the former Chelsea captain’s larger legacy.

"He's an inspiration, Fernandez told Sky Sports.I've watched a lot of videos of Frank since coming to Chelsea. I've seen how he got into those last metres of the pitch and how he got into the box. During the time he was our coach, I didn't play in this position. I played further back, so I couldn't talk to him much about it. But I've been watching and learning from his videos since I came to the club."

"He was an exceptional player and a legend here for Chelsea. I don't like to be compared to him, because he has achieved a lot more here than I have. He's an idol. I hope to follow in his footsteps at Chelsea."

Fernandez joined Chelsea from Benfica in 2023 for a reported 106.8m (123m), and the move has proved key for the squad. Since arriving, Fernandez has played 151 matches in all competitions, scoring 27 goals and supplying 26 assists from midfield.

Only Cole Palmer, with 78 goal involvements, has contributed more than Fernandez’s 53 for Chelsea in that period. The 25-year-old continues that output in 2025-26, with 12 goals and seven assists in all competitions, giving Fernandez the joint-fourth highest tally among Premier League players this season.

Enzo Fernandez Chelsea managers and impact of Liam Rosenior

Life at Stamford Bridge has been intense off the pitch for Fernandez, who has already worked under five different Chelsea managers. The latest appointment is Liam Rosenior, formerly of Strasbourg, and the coach has made an early impact on results and dressing-room mood.

Rosenior’s start included a dramatic victory over West Ham, when Fernandez struck a 92nd-minute winner. That result meant Rosenior became the fourth English manager to win his first three Premier League matches in charge, following Bobby Gould in August 1992, Sam Allardyce in August 2001 and Craig Shakespeare, who won his first five in April 2017.

"He's a great coach, Fernandezsaid of Rosenior. He only arrived a month ago, but he's showing all his potential. Football doesn't give you time. It only wants results. That's what it is. But he is managing to get results, and he gives us a lot of confidence, so we're very happy that he's with us. We've all felt how we are growing, both as a group and me on a personal level."

Fernandez’s blend of consistent output, leadership in European and global competitions, and admiration for Lampard’s example places the midfielder at the core of Chelsea’s current project. As Rosenior settles and trophies remain the target, Fernandez’s role looks set to stay crucial at Stamford Bridge.
