EPL 2012-13: Liverpool vs Aston Villa Preview

Liverpool, Dec 15: Liverpool welcome back Luis Suarez from suspension as they host 17th place Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday.

The Reds go into this game after back-to-back league victories and the comeback last time out at West Ham United should have restored a bit of self confidence in Brendan Rodgers' team.

Liverpool climbed their way up to the top half of the table and are only four points away from claiming the top-four spots, but only if other results go in their way.

Meanwhile, Suarez returns for the Reds after suspension. The Uruguayan has scored eight goals in his last 10 league matches.

Aston Villa had a terrible start to the season but are slowly catching up with decent results in the last few games. Hovering above the relegation zone, the Villans need a positive result at Anfield to avoid the drop.

Villa's only spark this season has been striker Christian Benteke but the goal drought is a big concern. Paul Lambert's side have scored the least no. of goals this season, only 12.

Meanwhile, Jose Enrique, who has been playing in a forward role for Liverpool, will miss the clash against the Villans due to a hamstring injury. The Reds do not have any other injury concerns.

However, for the Villans, Darren Bent and captain Ron Vlaar sit out with a hamstring problem and calf injury, respectively.

Another Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor is a major doubt but left-backs Enda Stevens and Joe Bennett are available.

Trivia:

*Aston Villa have only won one league game in 10 visits to Anfield W1 D3 L6.

*Liverpool have beaten Villa 21 times in the Premier League.

*Liverpool have won 3 in the last five games while Villa remain unbeaten in four league matches.
