Chelsea overshadow West Brom with a 6-0 triumph

Chelsea marked an impressive start with a thumping 6-0 win over West Bromwich Albion on the opening day of the new season.

Their ace-forward Didier Drogba scored a hat-trick, Florent Malouda got two and Frank Lampard the other as the defending champions played exceptional football against a West Brom side who also displayed attractive football but were no match for the Blues.

Newly promoted Blackpool side made a very impressive start as well with a 4-0 win over Wigan Athletic, marking their return to top division league after 39 years. Aston Villa, Blackburn and Wolverhampton Wanderers all secured a win as well to get the premier league set up for rest of the season in an interesting note.
