Lampard scores twice as Chelsea rout Blackpool 3-1

By Biswajeet Panda
London, Mar 8: Chelsea secured a much-needed victory over Blackpool to stay in contention of the Premier League title. They are now trailing leaders Manchester United by nine points and have a game in hand.

For Chelsea, it was their old and trusted pair of Frank Lampard and John Terry who sealed the victory against Blackpool. Lampard's score two and Terry one to ensure a relatively easy victory for Chelsea, which is managed by Carlo Ancelotti.

Blackpool who are infamously inconsistent have their task cut out as they now are in a real danger of relegation. Their recent 4-0 loss to Wolves has made it really difficult for them to cut through.

In the 20th minute of the match, Terry opened the account for Chelsea when he struck a goal by a header from Lampard's corner. Lampard scored his first and Chelsea's second when he converted a penalty earned due to being fouled in the area by Evatt.

Four minutes later he struck again when Kalou played him through and he simply shot the ball past Kingson to make it 3-0 for Chelsea.

In the 85th minute of the match, Puncheon, scored the only goal for Blackpool when he draped one back with superb left-footer.
