EPL: How Manchester United beat 9-man Chelsea 3-2

London, Oct 29: Manchester United beat 9-man Chelsea at Stamford Bridge as Roberto Di Matteo's men suffered their first defeat in the Premier League this season.

One of the most controversial game in Premier League history witnessed two red cards, a touchline spat, an injured steward, worst performance by the referee, a questionable winning goal and other unseen incidents.

The result could probably decide the league winners, thanks to referee Mark Clattenburg's shocking red card decision to Fernando Torres which turned the tide towards United as Chelsea were struggling to hold on to their two-goal comeback.

An hour of exciting and attractive football was played by two of the best teams in the competition. United were up by two goals in 12 minutes, thanks to David Luiz's own goal and slack defence that allowed Robin van Persie to slot home.

United were the better team till the half-hour mark, pushing forward with pace along the flanks but the momentum changed drastically. The Red Devils couldn't hold the ball and get out of their own half as Chelsea's creative trio of Oscar, Juan Mata and Eden Hazard tried to get the Blues back into the game.

Wayne Rooney brought down Eden Hazard outside the box, Juan Mata stepped in to take resulting free kick. The Spanish playmaker curled in towards the right corner to narrow United's lead just before the first half.

Eight minutes into the second half, Ramirez headed home the equaliser through Oscar's cross and the Blues were on course to seal three points but 10 minutes after they were level on terms disaster struck.

Two red cards in the space of 5 minutes shook the Bridge which handed clear advantage to the visitors. Ferguson brought in Javier Hernandez to boost their attack while Roberto Di Matteo made significant changes to cut-short their opponents chances.

But Chelsea's night turned worse when Chicharito, who was in an offside position, scored the winner 15 minutes from time.

United are now just one point behind Chelsea in the league with 21 points, equal to city rivals Manchester City.
