EPL: Lewandowski heading to Manchester United

Manchester, Dec 2: Manchester United are closing in on Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski after the Polish star revealed to his friends that he could move to Old Trafford next summer, according to the DailyMail.

Lewandowski, who rejected a move to United during the summer transfer window, is set to leave Dortmund after helping the club win two Bunderliga titles. The Red Devils are willing to spend nearly £20 million for the 24-year old but his contract ends at the end of next season.

The Polish striker made a mark in Euro 2012 hosted by Polan-Ukraine in June and that's when United set their sights on the forward. The Red Devils also signed Lewandowski's former teammate Shinji Kagawa during the summer.

Sir Alex Ferguson feels pairing Lewandowski with Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney behind would hand him the most lethal attack in the Premier League and in Europe.

Meanwhile, United are ready to offload Nani, who is curently injured with a hamstring problem, in January. The Portuguese has rejected to sign a contract extension at Old Trafford demanding higher wages.

Nani has also dropped down the pecking order after poor performances and is facing heavy competition from fellow wingers Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young.
