EPL: Tottenham eye bid for Andy Carroll in January

London, Nov 6: Tottenham are considering a move for Andy Carroll when the transfer market re-opens in January, according to Mail Online.

Carroll, 23, who is currently on loan with West Ham united from Liverpool, is a surprise target for Spurs despite having strikers Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor.

Meanwhile, Liverpool, who bought Carroll for a whopping £35 million, sent the England international on loan with an option of a permanent £17 million move next summer.

The Reds current manager Brendan Rodgers is not willing to recall Carroll despite having shortage of strikers and is open to listen to offers to finance new signings.

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas was criticised by fans after losing to Wigan Athletic at White Hart Lane. The fans booed off the Portuguese tactics to substitute Defoe for Adebayor in the 57th minute.

Defoe, Spurs top-scorer this season, went straight down the tunnel after being substituted just a minute after Wigan scored the opener while Adebayor, who made five appearances and is yet to start a Premier League game, failed to make any impact.

Carroll is yet to score for the Hammers in five starts but Spurs are interested to strengthen their attack as Liverpool look to offload their £35 million striker.
