Erling Haaland has etched his name into the history books by becoming Norway's leading male goal scorer after his performance against Slovenia in the UEFA Nations League.
Haaland's two goals in the 3-0 victory propelled him past the previous record, highlighting his extraordinary scoring prowess. With a total of 34 goals in 36 appearances for his national team, Haaland has surpassed the record set by Jorgen Juve, who scored 33 goals in 45 appearances between 1928 and 1937.

Before this landmark achievement, Haaland was already second on Norway's all-time men's scoring list, trailing only behind Juve. But two goals in either half was enough for the lanky striker to claim the record. Haaland equalized with Juve's tally in the 7th minute. Haaland's record-breaking goal came in the 61st minute of the match against Slovenia, following a goal by Alexander Sorloth. With his goal, the Manchester City striker reached the landmark having played nine fewer matches. Juve found the net for Norway for the last time in 1934, which means the Man City record breached a record of 90 years to stamp his own mark in the history of Norway football.
Additionally, it's noteworthy that Haaland, at only 24 years old, has shattered a record that stood for decades, demonstrating his exceptional talent and potential for further achievements in his career.
Another record Haaland would love to achieve is becoming the highest scorer for his country across genders. Currently, nine female players boast a higher goal tally than Haaland, with Isabell Herlovsen leading the pack with 67 goals.
Haaland's goal-scoring rate is an impressive 0.94 goals per game for Norway, predicting that he could potentially reach 68 goals in just 73 matches if he maintains this pace. The former Borussia Dortmund striker has been in red-hot form for his current club Man City as well. He has so far scored 11 goals across all competitions this season for the Premier League club in just 10 appearances.
