Erling Haaland's remarkable performance at Manchester City has made him indispensable, according to former defender Danny Mills. Since joining in July 2023, Haaland has consistently impressed, winning the Premier League Golden Boot twice and the Player of the Year award in his first season. With 105 goals in 114 appearances, including 16 this term, his impact is undeniable.

Mills describes Haaland as an "enigma" due to his unconventional approach as a centre forward. Unlike typical strikers who drop deep or press high, Haaland stays central, making efficient runs and scoring frequently. "Erling Haaland is a bit of an enigma," Mills told Stats Perform. "He's not your usual centre forward."

Haaland's ability to position himself well on the field contributes significantly to his goal-scoring prowess. Despite missing some chances, he remains prolific. Mills emphasises that being in the right place is crucial for a striker, as opportunities will eventually lead to goals.

Mills argues that even when not scoring regularly, Haaland offers too much value to be excluded from the team. "When we talk about patchy form for Erling Haaland," Mills added, "patchy form for him is still way better than most other players' form."

Haaland's physical presence and diverse goal-scoring abilities make him a constant threat on the pitch. His size and strength often require multiple defenders' attention due to concerns over his speed and aerial skills.

Mills believes omitting Haaland would be a significant decision given his influence on games. An "Erling Haaland drought" means not scoring for two matches—a record many strikers would envy.
