Anfield Awaits. Erling Haaland Has One Message For Manchester City

Erling Haaland has backed Manchester City to enjoy their visit to Anfield as Pep Guardiola's side prepare to face Liverpool in a high-profile Premier League clash on Sunday, October 11, with the Norwegian striker urging his team-mates to stay positive and united.

Speaking in an interview shared by JioStar, Haaland reflected on his personal connection with Manchester City, his respect for the Liverpool rivalry and the importance of maintaining the right mindset ahead of one of the toughest away fixtures on the calendar.

"I am pretty sure that the Manchester City fans are going to have a good time when we visit Anfield," Haaland said, expressing confidence ahead of the encounter.

City will look to maintain their perfect start to the Premier League season, with Haaland leading the scoring charts as they prepare to face a Liverpool side eager to make the most of home advantage.

Erling Haaland on His Special Connection With Manchester City

Haaland said his connection with Manchester City extends beyond his role as a player, describing the club and its supporters as an important part of his life.

The striker explained that his family has longstanding links with England. His mother lived in the country for a decade, while his father trained at Manchester City's Carrington facilities during his time at the club.

"I care a lot about this place, the UK in general," Haaland said. "And I care a lot about Manchester City, I have to say. I care a lot about the fans because I'm a fan myself, and I feel with them as well."

The Norwegian also recalled spending his first four years in England, making the country a special place for his family. His comments underline the personal significance of representing City as well as his desire to deliver for the club's supporters.

Erling Haaland Reflects on Manchester City vs Liverpool Rivalry

Haaland described matches against Liverpool as special occasions, recalling how he watched the rivalry develop during the years when Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp regularly competed against each other.

The striker said he remembered watching Manchester City and Liverpool face off while he was playing in Salzburg and Dortmund, recognising the intensity of the contests between the two managers.

"It's always special to play against Liverpool, especially with Pep and Klopp going head-to-head over the years," he said.

Haaland has experienced different outcomes at Anfield, having won, drawn and lost there during his time in English football. He acknowledged that every Premier League fixture presents a different challenge but maintained that Liverpool games carry particular significance.

The upcoming encounter gives City another opportunity to test themselves in a demanding away environment as they attempt to continue their strong start to the campaign.

Erling Haaland Urges Manchester City to Stay Positive

Beyond the rivalry itself, Haaland stressed the importance of togetherness and maintaining a positive attitude, regardless of how the match unfolds.

The forward called on his team-mates to support one another, enjoy the occasion and remain focused on winning football matches rather than becoming distracted by the pressure surrounding a visit to Anfield.

"We have to stick together as a team. We must stay with each other, and we must stay positive," Haaland said.

He also emphasised the importance of enjoying the game and spreading positivity within the squad.

"Stick together, enjoy the ride, and smile. We have to stay positive, look ahead, and try to win football games, and try to enjoy the situation and the game," he added.

His message comes ahead of a fixture in which City will need to combine their attacking quality with the discipline required to compete away against a major rival.
