Brazil's young talent, Estevao, revealed that team instructions prevented him from taking a second penalty in the 1-1 draw against Tunisia. Carlo Ancelotti's squad concluded 2025 with a disappointing result in Lille. Tunisia initially led with Hazem Mastouri's goal in the 23rd minute at Stade Pierre-Mauroy. However, Chelsea winger Estevao equalised from the penalty spot before halftime.
Late in the match, Brazil received another penalty opportunity. Estevao did not take this one, passing the responsibility to Lucas Paqueta, who unfortunately missed by shooting over the bar. When asked about this decision, Estevao told SporTV (as reported by ESPN Brasil), "It was an order that came. I supported my team-mate so he could score the goal. Unfortunately, he missed, but he held his head high."

Estevao emphasised the need for improvement, especially in critical moments like those faced during World Cup matches. "We must improve because in a World Cup we have to take advantage of these opportunities," he stated. Despite missing out on scoring again, Estevao nearly found success when his shot hit the post in the final seconds of the game.
The past year has been remarkable for Estevao as he has become a key player for both Chelsea and Brazil at just 18 years old. Reflecting on his journey, he shared, "A very special year. I don't think I had many ups and downs, but I was able to handle everything that happened." His consistent performance has earned him a regular spot on both teams.
Estevao expressed pride in representing Brazil and acknowledged that his success is due to hard work at both club and home levels. "Being here with the national team means that the work has been done well at the club and at home," he said. He remains dedicated to contributing positively whenever called upon by his country.

Despite the setback against Tunisia, Estevao remains optimistic about future opportunities with Brazil. His focus is on continuing to develop his skills and make meaningful contributions on the international stage.
