Croatia and Albania, both trying to catch-up after defeats in their first matches in the group of death. Croatia lost 0-3 against Spain in their opening Euro 2024 match. Following defeats in their Euro 2024 openers last weekend, both teams are sitting at the bottom of the group table. They will look to stay in the running for a spot in the tournament's knockout stages.

Croatia vs Albania Preview

Many people predicted that Croatia may finally win some silverware this time around but they have begun their seventh Euro campaign with an unexpected loss. Head coach Zlatko Dalic, the architect of his country's recent success at international competitions, saw his side fail to score despite having 16 shots but there is no time to pause and ponder in the group of death.

Instead, Croatia must strive to reverse a downward trend that has included three defeats in their last five competitive matches. They have not lost consecutive games in a final since Euro 1996, and they cannot afford to do so when they face regional rivals Albania.

Albania are only playing for the second time since their independence. They continued their poor record at UEFA's premier event losing to Italy last weekend despite Nedim Bajrami scoring a remarkable opener after only 23 seconds - the quickest goal in European Championship history.

Albania has already lost three of its four major championship matches. They broke a seven-game unbeaten streak with their first competitive defeat since March 2023. They face a daunting task in Euro 2024 to escape an early exit.
