Hungary confirmed that striker Barnabas Varga needs surgery after a severe collision during Sunday's Euro 2024 win over Scotland.
The 29-year-old clashed with goalkeeper Angus Gunn while competing for an aerial ball at a free-kick in the 68th minute of the Group A game. Varga was left lying on the ground, causing immediate concern among his teammates.

Medics rushed to Varga's aid, using blankets to create a protective screen around him. Captain Dominik Szoboszlai was visibly distressed and in tears as Varga received treatment for eight minutes before being stretchered off. Shortly after the match, it was announced that Varga had been taken to a hospital in Stuttgart, where he was stable and conscious.
"Barnabas Varga's condition is stable. The player is currently in hospital in Stuttgart. We will inform you immediately if there is any update about his status," a statement from Hungarian FA wrote.
Hungary coach Marco Rossi revealed that Varga would undergo surgery for a facial fracture, ruling him out for the rest of the Euros. "His life is not in danger," Rossi assured.
Kevin Csoboth, who came off the bench, scored Hungary's winning goal in the 100th minute. The delay from Varga's injury contributed to 10 minutes of stoppage time. In celebration, Csoboth held up a shirt with Varga's name, and the team posed with it after their 1-0 victory, boosting their chances of reaching the last-16.
Hungary finished 3rd in the Group A points table and now has a chance to go through to the next stages if they are among the best four third-placed teams.
