Euro 2024: Seven Major Records Which may Break in the Euros

With each passing day, excitement is only increasing for Euro 2024, which will be held in Germany. The fans and experts subsequently have their sights set on the record books. This year's competition offers exciting contests and the possibility of new milestones being etched into European Championship history.

Several old records are about to be broken, ranging from team accomplishments to individual heroics. With the tournament set to start on 14th June, here, we look at the significant records that might be broken, showcasing the individuals and teams who will leave an everlasting stamp on Euro 2024.

Euro 2021

1. Youngest Player of the Tournament

In 2021, Polish player Kacper Kozlowski became the youngest player ever to take part at the age of 17 years and 246 days. Spain's Lamine Yamal could be the youngest player to feature in the tournament to break the record who is yet to be 17 years of age.

2. Youngest Goal-Scorer

Euro 2004 saw then 18 years and 141 days old Swiss striker Johan Vonlanthen become the youngest goal-scorer in the tournament. The record could easily be broken in the Euro 2024 with several players featuring under this age.

3. Oldest Goal-Scorer

At 38 years and 257 days old Austria's Ivica Vastic is the tournament's oldest goal-scorer. With several players notably Cristiano Ronaldo participating in the tournament who is above this age, this record could soon be broken.

4. Fastest Goal

Greece striker Dmitri Kiritchenko still holds the record for scoring the fastest goal in Euro with his 67-second strike against Russia in Euro 2004. A tough feat however it could also be achievable.

5. Most Tournaments Played

There will be very few players in World football who could match Al Nassr and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo for consistency and his Euro record is one of the metiers that underscores it. The 39-year-old is all set to feature for the sixth time in the Euro this summer and very few players surely could ever match it.

6. Most Goals Scored in One Tournament

French legend Michel Platini scored nine goals in Euro 1984 to lead his country to the trophy. So far no one has come close to breaking it. It remains to be seen if Euro 2024 can experience that feat.

7. Most Goals Scored in One Tournament by a Team

Guided by top scorer Michel Platini with nine goals, France scored 14 goals in a single campaign in the Euro 1984 which is still a record. We have to wait and see if it can be broken again.
