Euro 2024: Players that could make or break Spain vs Italy match

Spain meet Italy in their second group stage match in the Euro 2024. Both La Roja and Azzurri are sitting at the top of the table which is a big deal considering they're in the group of death. Whereas Albania and Croatia are sitting at the bottom of the table with little hope of progressing to the knockout stages.

This will be another of this group's best games and there are a few players who could make or break the game for their nations. Both Spain and Italy have some world-class players who impressed for their clubs this past season and will keep doing the same for their countries.

Lamine Yamal (Spain)

At just 16 years old, Lamine Yamal became the youngest player to appear at a European Championship when he came on as a substitute against Croatia in their first Euro 2024 match. The youngster became a Barcelona star this past season and his inclusion shows the depth of Spain's talented squad.

Alessandro Bastoni (Italy)

Alessandro Bastoni, the Inter Milan defender has a tendency to move up and provide for the attack in the final third. He equalized for Italy against Albania in the Azzurri's first match of the tournament after they had fallen behind early. His incredible ability to contribute at both ends of the field will be important.

Fabian Ruiz (Spain)

Fabian Ruiz, the PSG midfielder was outstanding in Spain's 3-0 win over Croatia in La Roja's first match of the tournament. He contributed significantly to the game as he set up one goal and scored another. He is an "exceptional player" and a key part of Spain's new, more direct style under coach Luis de la Fuente.

Nicolo Barella (Italy)

Bastoni's teammate, another Inter Milan player, Nicolo Barella scored the winning goal for Italy in their match against Albania. The Azzurri came from behind to beat Albania 2-1 in their opening match and this midfielder was the reason for that win. He could be key again to Italy's attacking play against Spain.
