Euro 2024: Spain set to miss Three Key players against France in Semifinal

Despite their magnificent victory over hosts Germany in the Euro 2024, Spain has suffered a few setbacks ahead of the semifinal.

Spain will be without three key players for the Euro 2024 semi-final against France. This news comes as a significant blow to the team ahead of the much important encounter against Les Bleus.

Spain to Miss Three Players - Pedri, Robin Le Normand and Dani Carvajal

Spain will be without the services of Pedri, Robin Le Normand and Dani Carvajal, the latter two for suspensions while Pedri suffered a long-term injury.

Pedri's injury was confirmed as a medial collateral ligament sprain in his left knee, ruling him out for the rest of the tournament. The Barcelona midfielder was visibly emotional when he left the field.

Le Normand also faces suspension after receiving a yellow card in the 29th minute of the match against Germany. This booking means he will miss the crucial game against France. Carvajal's situation is even more complicated as he was sent off with a second yellow for preventing a German breakaway.

Who can replace the defenders?

With both Carvajal and Le Normand suspended, Spain's defence will need adjustments. Nacho and Jesus Navas are likely candidates to fill these gaps in the starting XI. This could be a challenging task for Spain as they prepare to face Didier Deschamps's side.

France secured their semi-final spot by winning a penalty shootout against Portugal after a goalless draw. Spain's quarter-final match with Germany seemed destined for penalties too until Mikel Merino scored in the 119th minute, securing a dramatic win for La Roja.

Spain's coach Luis de la Fuente expressed his pride and optimism following their victory over Germany.

"This is a historic night. I'm proud to represent our country. How far we get, we will see, but we're absolutely convinced that we can get very far with this team," the Spanish coach said after the magnificent victory.
