Germany and Switzerland will be facing each other with the intentions of grabbing the first spot of Group A at Euro 2024 on Sunday evening in Frankfurt.

Germany clinched their place in Group A's top two on Wednesday evening by defeating Hungary 2-0 in Stuttgart, ensuring their safe passage to the knockout rounds. They will now win their group by avoiding defeat against Switzerland, putting head coach Julian Nagelsmann in a good position to rotate his superb 26-man squad.

Germany will be expected to make it three wins in a row. The only time Germany failed to score against Switzerland in their history was a goalless draw back in April 1968, and the current squad should keep that streak going this weekend. On the other hand, Switzerland is actually unbeaten in their last three games with Germany.

Simply avoiding defeat on this occasion would advance them to the Euro 2024 knockout stages. However, even if they lost this game, if Scotland fail to beat Hungary, it would be sufficient for Switzerland to progress. If Switzerland loses and Scotland wins, goal difference will very certainly work in their favour, and an upset against their German hosts would even propel Die Nati to first place in Group A.
