Spain has named a 29-member preliminary squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 which will be played in Germany. La Roja will be hoping for a decent outing in this edition after a couple of underwhelming Euro campaigns.

Spain coach Luis de la Fuente named a 29-man team initially, but they will have to cut it down to 26 as per UEFA regulations. With the Euros set to start soon, the Spanish federation will have enlist their final squad for the continental competition.

Spain has some decent players in their squad. It has a blend of experience and youth, with Fuente choosing some of the youngsters to the initial squad. But as the final call comes, here are the three players who may have to face the axe.

As per the players in the Spain squad, defenders and midfielders along with strikers will be the likely departures. They initially chose three goalkeepers who are set to be picked in the final squad. Hence the omission is likely to happen from outfield players. Here are the players who are likely to miss out.

Daniel Vivian

Position: Defender

Club: Athletic Bilbao

Daniel Vivian had a decent season with Athletic Bilbao and got picked up in the initial squad. The 24-year-old is a centre-back and has been one of the key players for the Basque club. He made his debut this year but is unlikely to add to his appearances as the players may be released.

Alex Baena

Position: Midfielder

Club: Villarreal

Alex Baena played 45 matches for Villarreal last season and scored 8 goals. Baena is a versatile player who can hone the no. 10 role, while has immense capability on the wing as well. The 22-year-old has played twice for Spain but can be one of the three departures ahead of the Euros.

Ayoze Perez

Position: Forward

Club: Real Betis

After a superb season with Real Betis, Ayoze Perez forced into the preliminary Spain squad for Euro 2024. Perez scored 11 goals for Betis across competitions this season. The 30-year-old hasn't ever played at the senior level for La Roja, and Perez's wait is likely to be longer as he is set to be discarded.
