Germany scored a late goal against Switzerland to preserve their summit status in the Group A points table of the Euro 2024 on Sunday (June 23).
Germany won their group with 7 points in three matches. The hosts started their campaign with a fantastic 5-1 victory over Scotland, and then continued with a 2-0 win over Hungary to seal their berth in the Round of 16. Against the Swiss, Niclas Fullkrug had to score late to provide one point and retain their top spot as they advanced to the knockouts of the Euro 2024.

Germany will play their Round of 16 match on Saturday (June 29) at the BVB Stadion in Dortmund.
By virtue of finishing at the top of Group A, Die Mannschaft will be up against the 2nd placed team of Group C in the Round of 16.
In Group C, things are pretty delicate at the moment. England is on top of the standings with 4 points, followed by Denmark and Slovenia who are on 2 points. At the bottom is Serbia with a point.
As England take on Slovenia and Denmark play Serbia in the final matches of the group, all four teams can finish in the 2nd spot.
