West Ham have secured Evan Ferguson on loan from Brighton until the season's end, reuniting him with former coach Graham Potter. The club sought attacking options after Niclas Fullkrug's hamstring injury last month. Fullkrug had already missed three months due to an Achilles issue before Christmas, while Michail Antonio broke his leg in a car accident in December and faces a year-long recovery.
Republic of Ireland international Ferguson has mostly been used as a substitute this season, making 11 of his 13 league appearances from the bench. West Ham manager Potter gave Ferguson his senior debut at Brighton when he was just 16 years old in 2021. The striker is eager to reunite with Potter at the London Stadium.

"It feels good to be here. Seeing the stadium and being here today, I've got a very good feeling," Ferguson expressed after signing on transfer deadline day. "I can see and know how big West Ham United is. It was a big opportunity for me to come here. I know the gaffer well and look forward to working under him again."
Despite limited starts, Ferguson has netted 13 Premier League goals for Brighton, having started only 27 matches in the top tier. The presence of Danny Welbeck, Joao Pedro, and Georginio Rutter has restricted his playing time this season. Consequently, Brighton's manager Fabian Hurzeler approved this temporary move.
Ferguson aims to contribute significantly at West Ham by scoring goals and helping the team achieve its objectives. His familiarity with Potter is expected to ease his transition into the squad as they aim for success in the remaining part of the season.
