Everton Triumphs 3-2 Against Tottenham As Calvert-Lewin Ends Goal Drought Under Moyes

In a thrilling match, Everton defeated Tottenham 3-2 at Goodison Park. Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored his first goal in 16 league games, leading the Toffees to their first win under David Moyes in his second spell. The victory ends a six-match winless run for Everton.

David Moyes celebrated his first win since returning to Everton, as they narrowly defeated Tottenham 3-2 at Goodison Park. Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Iliman Ndiaye scored for the home team, ending their six-game winless run in the Premier League. Everton's early dominance saw them score twice within the first half-hour, with Calvert-Lewin and Ndiaye both finding the net.

Calvert-Lewin skillfully evaded Archie Gray to score his first league goal in 16 matches. Ndiaye then doubled the lead with an impressive solo effort. An own-goal by Gray extended Everton's lead to 3-0 during first-half stoppage time. However, Dejan Kulusevski gave Spurs hope by scoring into an empty net in the 77th minute.

Calvert-Lewin Helps Everton Beat Tottenham 3-2

Richarlison, a former Everton player, added another goal for Tottenham by converting Mikey Moore's cross, making for a tense finish. Despite this late pressure, Everton managed to secure a morale-boosting victory. This win keeps them in 16th place but extends their gap from the relegation zone to four points, matching the distance from 15th-place Tottenham.

Tottenham's struggles continued as they lost their third consecutive Premier League match at the start of a calendar year for the first time since 1994. Idrissa Gueye was instrumental for Everton, assisting both opening goals and doubling his previous assist tally from 87 league appearances with the club.

The match marked a significant moment for Everton as it was their first time leading by three or more goals at half-time in a Premier League home game since February 2017 against Bournemouth. Archie Gray's own-goal made him only the third player aged 18 or younger to score an own-goal in Premier League history.

Richarlison's late goal maintained his record of scoring on all three visits to Goodison Park since leaving Everton for Tottenham. Despite being just a consolation goal, it highlighted his consistent performance at his former home ground.

This victory provided much-needed relief for Everton as they aim to distance themselves from relegation threats while also closing in on teams above them in the standings.
