Everton manager David Moyes is optimistic about enhancing the team's roster in the coming week as they prepare for the new season. The team concluded their pre-season tour in the United States with a commendable 2-2 draw against Manchester United. Everton has invested £27 million (€32 million) in striker Thierno Barry from Villarreal, and Carlos Alcaraz has made his move from Flamengo permanent after a loan spell last season.
In addition to Barry and Alcaraz, Mark Travers and Adam Aznou have joined Everton. Despite these additions, Moyes has expressed frustration over not strengthening the squad further, especially after losing key players like Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Abdoulaye Doucoure. However, following the match against United, Moyes shared a more hopeful outlook on upcoming transfers.

"I think there'll be deals next week," Moyes stated. "We're getting near the tickly bit soon and we're going to get some things done. But I've got to say I felt that four or five weeks ago as well."
Everton had a bid for Southampton winger Tyler Dibling rejected last week but plans to make another offer. They are also negotiating with Lyon for Malick Fofana. With their Premier League Summer Series in the US concluded, Everton now focuses on their upcoming match at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The Toffees previously defeated Port Vale in a closed-door match at this venue last month. However, Saturday's game against Roma will be their first in front of fans at their new stadium. "That'll be a great occasion for us all," added Moyes. "For us all to go down there and see what it looks like, and hopefully a good day of weather and fill the place out."
Moyes was encouraged by James Tarkowski's return to action against United after missing the end of last season due to a hamstring injury. He also expects Jarrad Branthwaite to be fit soon after missing the US tour.
After facing Roma, Everton will kick off their Premier League campaign with an away game against newly promoted Leeds United at Elland Road on August 18. This marks an exciting start as they aim to build momentum early in the season.
