Everton Defender Jarrad Branthwaite Commits To Five-Year Contract Amid Club Changes

Jarrad Branthwaite has signed a five-year contract with Everton, securing his future at the club as they prepare for a new season and stadium move. The defender expresses excitement about the project and his role in it.

Jarrad Branthwaite, a defender for Everton, has committed to a new five-year contract with the club. This comes as the team undergoes significant changes before their transition from Goodison Park to Hill Dickinson Stadium. The squad, managed by David Moyes, faces a shortage of players following the departures of Ashley Young, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and Abdoulaye Doucoure after their contracts ended.

Branthwaite expressed his enthusiasm about the contract extension, stating, "I'm over the moon. It's been something we've been talking about since the end of the season and to get it signed now is something I'm really excited about." He highlighted the trust placed in him by the club and his desire to continue developing as a player.

Branthwaite Signs Five-Year Deal with Everton

Since joining Everton from Carlisle United in 2020, Branthwaite has become an integral part of Sean Dyche's defence. His loan spell at PSV during the 2022-23 season was successful, leading to his establishment as a key player upon returning. Alongside James Tarkowski, he has contributed to Everton conceding only 95 goals since the start of the 2023-24 season.

The team's defensive record includes 25 clean sheets during this period, ranking just behind Manchester City and Arsenal. Despite interest from Manchester United in 2024, Everton remained firm in retaining Branthwaite, recognising his potential as one of the Premier League's top young talents.

Branthwaite also received his first England call-up ahead of Euro 2024 but missed out on Gareth Southgate's final squad due to injury. As Everton looks forward to moving into their new stadium and starting fresh under new management and ownership, Branthwaite is eager to be part of this exciting phase.

The club is reportedly close to signing striker Thierno Barry from Villarreal for up to £32.6 million (€38 million). Barry scored 11 LaLiga goals last season and could bolster Everton's attacking options under Moyes' leadership.

The upcoming move to Hill Dickinson Stadium is highly anticipated by both players and fans. Branthwaite mentioned that having their first home game there is something everyone is looking forward to. The team aims for a strong season ahead with these changes in place.
