Everton Defeats Fulham 2-0: Gueye And Keane Lead The Toffees To Victory

In a crucial Premier League match, Everton secured a 2-0 victory against Fulham with goals from Idrissa Gueye and Michael Keane. The win marked a return to form for the Toffees as they moved up the league table.

Everton secured a 2-0 victory over Fulham at Hill Dickinson Stadium, marking a return to winning form in the Premier League. This win came after Everton had managed just one victory since August. Fulham, on the other hand, had recently ended a four-game losing streak by defeating Wolves. Despite three disallowed goals for offside, Everton's performance was much improved under David Moyes.

Idrissa Gueye and Michael Keane were the goal scorers for Everton. Gueye scored in first-half stoppage time after Tim Iroegbunam's scuffed shot fell to him following James Tarkowski's header off the bar. Keane added the second goal in the 81st minute from a corner delivered by Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. This win moved Everton up to 11th place, four points ahead of Fulham before the international break.

Everton Triumphs Over Fulham 2-0

Despite Fulham's efforts, they only managed four shots on target, with Jordan Pickford making crucial saves against Rodrigo Muniz and Adama Traore. The Cottagers' expected goals (xG) tally of 0.4 highlighted their lack of clear chances. Dewsbury-Hall stood out in midfield, creating two chances and winning four tackles, only surpassed by Jack Grealish's three chances created.

Everton's home form has been strong, with only one loss in their last eight Premier League matches at Hill Dickinson Stadium. They have kept clean sheets in half of those games. Their previous unbeaten run at home was interrupted by a defeat to Tottenham in October, but they have since regained their footing.

Michael Keane continued his scoring streak against Fulham, netting for the second consecutive game against them. Since the start of the 2020-21 season, Keane has scored 13 goals as a defender in the Premier League, second only to Gabriel Magalhaes with 18 goals.

The match saw several offside decisions go against Everton. Thierno Barry's close-range finish was ruled out due to Iliman Ndiaye being offside during the build-up. James Tarkowski also had a volley disallowed for offside early in the second half.

Fulham showed more intent after halftime with substitute Josh King making an impact. However, Everton deservedly secured their second goal late in the match through Keane's effort from Dewsbury-Hall's corner.

This victory highlights Everton's resilience and ability to bounce back at home after setbacks earlier in the season. Their defensive solidity and key performances from players like Gueye and Keane were instrumental in this win.
