David Moyes Highlights Everton's Need For Six New Signings In Current Transfer Window

David Moyes has stated that Everton requires six new signings this transfer window due to recent player departures and a challenging pre-season. The club has already signed three players but needs more to strengthen the squad.

David Moyes is navigating a challenging transfer window at Everton, describing it as the busiest he has ever encountered. The club recently secured Thierno Barry from Villarreal for £27 million and added Mark Travers as a backup goalkeeper. They also made Carlos Alcaraz's loan from Flamengo permanent. Despite these additions, Moyes insists that Everton still requires up to 10 new players.

Everton's pre-season has been less than ideal, with a 1-1 draw against Accrington Stanley and a 1-0 loss to Blackburn Rovers. Their tour in the United States began with a 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth. Moyes reiterated his need for more signings after this match, stating, "Well, we've signed three, so if you take that off, we're still in need of maybe five or six players."

Moyes Calls for Six New Signings at Everton

The Toffees are pursuing Bayern Munich's left-back Adam Aznou. Moyes commented on the potential signing of the 19-year-old, who impressed on loan at Real Valladolid: "We have made an offer. Whether it's accepted and whether it's all done, he's a young player. It's someone we see as having a good future and good potential."

Everton's squad has seen significant changes since the end of the 2024-25 season, with five senior players departing, including key figures like Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Abdoulaye Doucoure. This turnover has contributed to Moyes' urgent call for reinforcements.

The absence of starting centre-backs James Tarkowski and Jarrod Branthwaite against Bournemouth highlighted Everton's defensive vulnerabilities. Tarkowski is recovering from a hamstring injury that ended his previous season prematurely, while Branthwaite is dealing with a minor issue.

Moyes acknowledged the unusual nature of this transfer window for him: "I've never had one of these times. In the past, I have had to sign a lot of players, but I've never had to do so many in one window." His comments underscore the urgency of bolstering the squad before the new season begins.

As Everton continues its search for new talent, Moyes remains focused on strengthening his team to face upcoming challenges. The manager's determination reflects his commitment to ensuring Everton competes effectively in the forthcoming season.
