Everton target Watford striker Troy Deeney

According to reports, Everton will look to lure away the 29-year-old from Vicarage Road in January as Big Sam feels that Deeney could be a worthy addition to the team.

Bengaluru, December 4: Everton boss Sam Allardyce has reportedly made Watford star Troy Deeney his top target for the January transfer window as he plans to lift the Toffies out of danger and aim for a top-half finish.

Allardayce is keen on strengthening his side next month, and will look forward to the out-of-favour Hornets striker to bolster his front line.

According to reports, the Toffees will look to lure away the 29-year-old from Vicarage Road in January as Big Sam feels that Deeney could be a worthy addition to the team.

Everton have struggled for goals all season after they failed to replace Romelu Lukaku, and believe Deeney could be tempted to jump ship to Goodison Park.

Deeney is a Watford legend and has given a lot to the Hornets over the years but has found it hard to impress this season as he has not played a lot this campaign.

Watford manager Marco Silva is a fan of summer signing Andre Gray and the Englishman has repaid his boss’ faith in him which is why Deeney has started just four games in the Premier League this season.

Deeney was a target for the Toffees last summer, but they failed to lure him away. However, things have changed now as the 29-year-old will look for gametime in order to fight for a place in the England national team for the World Cup next year.

Everton's director of football Steve Walsh has maintained an interest in Deeney since summer, and is a big fan of the Watford legend due to his style of play.

Walsh tried to bring the hard-working striker to the King Power Stadium when he was working at Leicester, and retains hopes of landing the Hornets skipper this time at Goodison.
