Ange Postecoglou has expressed concerns about a negative narrative surrounding Tottenham Hotspur. He believes that even winning the Europa League might not satisfy the club's critics. Currently, Spurs are 14th in the Premier League, trailing by eight points from the top 10. They are preparing for a crucial quarter-final match against Eintracht Frankfurt, former winners of the competition.
Postecoglou has faced significant criticism this season, with speculation that his future at the club depends on Europa League success. Winning the tournament would be Tottenham's first trophy since their 2007-08 EFL Cup victory and ensure European football next season. Despite these challenges, Postecoglou remains focused on turning the tide for his team.

The team recently secured a 3-1 win over Southampton, which served as preparation for Thursday's first leg. However, questions arose when Brennan Johnson was denied a hat-trick after scoring twice. A penalty was awarded in stoppage time, but Mathys Tel took and scored it instead. Postecoglou feels this incident reflects how positives at Tottenham are often overshadowed by negativity.
"I just think we're in that position now where even the good stuff we do is going to be turned into a glass half-empty rhetoric," Postecoglou stated during a pre-match press conference. He added that despite scoring and winning, achievements are often undervalued at Tottenham. "If we're 2-1 up, and we get a penalty late on, I want our best penalty taker to take it," he explained.
Tottenham is making its first appearance in the last eight of a European competition since reaching the Champions League final six years ago. Despite recent struggles, Postecoglou has called on fans to support the team passionately. He believes their backing will be vital for success in upcoming matches.
"It's hugely important," said Postecoglou regarding fan support. "With every European game, the atmosphere makes a big impact." He emphasised that many successful European teams benefit from strong home support and hopes for similar backing from Spurs fans on Thursday.
Postecoglou acknowledges that convincing critics may be impossible even with Europa League victory. "Even if we win [the Europa League], I am gone anyway," he remarked about public sentiment towards him and his role at Tottenham.
